AND MOST IMPORTANTLY … THE OUTFIT
Figuring out what to wear on any normal day is already a struggle. The good news is there’s nothing tricky about dressing for a spray tan - let’s strip down to the basics.
So your spray tan is today, and afterwards you are…
Going out
Going to work
Going to sleep, duh!
No matter where to next, you can easily come prepared. The clothes you throw on afterwards should be dark and loose-fitting.
Why dark? So the freshly applied bronzer (surface layer) doesn’t visibly come off on your clothes.
Why loose? So you don’t rub lines into the makeup layer that will stay as long as your tan. Bras (even sports bras), tight sleeves or pant legs, seams, anything with a strap, are all no-go’s.
If you’re going to be out and about after your spray tan, you can still plan a cute outfit! Keeping in mind you may want to go braless, dark oversized tees or long sleeves, loose pullovers or sweaters, fabric shorts or joggers, as well as t-shirt dresses or maxi dresses are often ideal.
If you’re sleeping in your tan, it’s best to wear long and loose PJs so that skin to skin contact isn’t an issue, because you never know quite how long you’ll be sleeping in one position! (If it’s hot, blast that A/C, because you don’t want to break a sweat until you’ve washed off the makeup layer.)
Shoe-wise, keep it simple with slides, flip flops, or on colder, wetter days, something like an UGG boot. If it’s going to rain, make sure to bring a hooded jacket or umbrella, too!
Regardless of your next destination, avoid avoid avoid…
Leggings (tight fitting, waist bands, and seams, oh my!)
Jeans
Bras
Strappy tops/dresses
Tight shoes
Light colors (especially those that are dry clean only fabrics)
